Are you a

Parent

How does your innovation currently get kids (or how might it get kids) engaged in physical activity? How would your idea or project potentially be implemented during the school day?

The use of the music is what helps to get them engaged in the activity. In school this would be a perfect classroom workout using the chairs to do push ups, books as hand weights, erasers to clean the boards for the arms, holding on to the desk to do squats or leg lifts. It helps the class staff in order but gives them an organized work out time.

Our program current serves approximately 120 students. They spend at least three days a week for at least 45mins a day on this activity.

Tell us the story behind the social innovator. (150 words max)

This activity was one I started at home for my kids to get them moving and working out with me. I used for cleaning up sweeping, mopping, vacumming helped with arm movement. We used the chairs for leg lifts, Tables for squats. It later became a contest to see who could come up with the best excercise and it played our music and created fun for the entire family and they became excited about cleaning up. I was happy because I got help around the house and time passed by and it became less of a chore and more fun.
