The Need: Describe the need for your solution and the size and characteristics of the community(ies) your solution is engaging
We live in a beautiful community. The natural beauty of our community, often does not offset the lack of supported programs to children and community members. Currently very few programs, training oppertunities, and resources are available to those who want so badly to keep Christina Lake vibrant. There is a huge desire in our community to keep our kids local, and give them the supported oppertunities to learn and discover vital skills that will encourage sustainability, environment preservation, and a true vibrant community. "Vibrant Community Kids!" would engage local kids of all ages, parents, educators, and participating community mentors jointly.
The Solution: What is your solution? Be specific!
The solution in our community is really simple. AWARENESS and PARTICIPATION! We know that our kids have to leave the community to explore interests, hobbies, sports, and career development etc. We know that we have experts in the community that will work in partnership with us to keep our kids local, involved, engaged, and participating fully. Community kids express interest in environmental study, keeping active, and learning practical trade skills. These are all areas that we can really support and develop with committed community mentors, and ultimately keep our kids learning, growing and developing locally. We need to support the kids, as they truly are the future of our community. Our first 5 proposed iniciatives for "Vibrant Community Kids" are...
1.) Lake and Community Environment Awareness.
2.) Practical Sustainability In Action.
3.) Keep Active at The Lake!
4.) Early Trade and Technical Interest Development.
5.) Cultural Development and Increased Access.
The Model: Walk us through a specific example of how your solution makes a difference; include the primary activities involved in your solution.
My solution would make a difference to the community of Christina Lake, and the residents of all ages. Developing Vibrant Community Kids, would give our kids an oppertunity to participate, learn, and grow from community mentors and partnering participants. As a result I see Vibrant Community Kids making our community closer, and more educated. Learning and sharing skills in a small community is vital to the strength and closeness of a small town, and can encourage participation of all ages. For instance, we have a beautiful Lake that most kids probably LOVE swimming in, but know nothing about....lets keep the kids enjoying the Lake, AND learning about the species, environmental concerns, sources, and patterns. We all desire a sustainable community, lets get a community garden or similiar opperating under the guidance of a mentor, and help our kids learn the value of eating what you grow. We all know that being active is very important to long term health and happieness, but yet we have nearly no local programing...Lets give the kids oppertunies to be active daily, without having to leave the community. Trade skills are very important to all communities, but vital to rural communities. Lets provide coordinated training pods to kids that may have interest in entering the trades, so they have the oppertunity to develop thier skill and define there interestes locally. Vibrant Community Kids ultimate goal would be to provide small town Christina Lake kids services, clubs, and activities to imporve community cooperation, participation and participation.
The Marketplace: Who are your peers and competitors? Identify others working to address the same needs as you and indicate what sets you apart from them.
Currently there would be no determined "competitors". Christina Lake is such a small community, and services to kids have always been very limited at best. When services, classes, hobbies, or groups ARE offered to kids in our community, there is nearly 100% participation. Potential partners /peers would be...
The Christina Lake Stewardship Society
The Living Arts Center.

Kettle Valley Food-Co Op
Community Mentor Group
Christina Lake Elementary School
Christina Lake Chamber of Commerce

Social Impact
Founding Story: We want to hear about your "Aha!" moment. Share the story of where and when the founder(s) saw this solution's potential to change the world.
As a parent in our rural community, I see kids leave the community for a variety of reasons. Some leave as young adults for employment oppertunities, training, "more to do",or to further thier education. Younger kids leave the community daily to participate on teams, in clubs, and to attend events. We as a community can provide not all, but many of the services and oppertunities that the kids are seeking. With strong commitment, and great community partnerships we can provide a diverse selection of supported programs.
Please describe the goal of your initiative; outline what you are trying to achieve
The goal of Vibrant Community Kids is to provide services, activities, oppertunities, and education to our kids locally. The goal is to stimulate community participation, and involvement, and to work with local mentors to achieve the goals in a way that can be sustained. Vibrant Community Kids should provide something for every community participant, and will benefit the community as a whole.
What has been the impact of your solution to date?
This idea is in planning stages, but has the support of community mentors, potential participants, local educators, and potential partners. The impact will be great for the community and the kids.
What is your projected impact over the next five years?
I project that the impact will be seen in a variety of ways over the next 5 years. I predict that there will be great participation, a real community connection made, a deeper sense of community in the kids, new frienships made, and kids and families that are happier and more fufilled in our rural small town.

Are you currently targeting other specific populations, locations, or markets for your solution? If so, where and why?
No, we no that we will have community support, and that of our local school.
What type of operating environment and internal organizational factors make your innovation successful?
As I mentioned, we are still in the planning phase...but we will have to elect a diverse Board to ensure that all areas of community and interest are represented as descriped, and that the community children are all encouraged and supported in participation.
Please elaborate on any needs or offers you have mentioned above and/or suggest categories of support that aren't specified within the list
