Howdy

Howdy,  I noticed this group when checking up on an entry I have for a competition, alas, I am not in the final runing.  Truthfully, I didn't care about the prize that much, I'm not even specifically sure what it was.  What I was trying to do was raise interest in the project that I outline in the link below.

In competing and discussing this entry I came to the realization that I should probably start the thing in Africa.  It has a far greater potential there, and, no matter where I start it, it will be started and useable the world over.  The difference will be the languages, I will have to have multiple languages to start with.  To save you time, my idea is an online general education curriculum.  The original idea had it starting in fourth grade, but for Africa it would have to start with literacy training.

I am super into alternate energy, I have designed and built my own wind turbine and feel that this technology would be sufficient to power remote outposts where students could have access to internet teaching.  Besides wind and solar, it is quite possible to build something with pedals to run up power.  I can build such things, or will be able to shortly, I have an aluminum welder on order.  I also have a small machine shop.  I am also a writer, which is how I intend to fund my project.  I have writen a trilogy of novels, published the first one with Xlibris, a self publishing outfit.  That was a mistake, I should have continued to fail at finding an agent and saved my money.  At least my intellectual property is copywritten now, there is that, I could have done it for far cheaper though.  I wrote a screenplay based on the first novel, it is registered with the WGA east.  I will write screenplays for the following two as well.  Truth be told screenplay writing is way more fun than novel writing.  It is my thought to get the movies filmed and to re-write the novels to match and enhance them perfectly, then to let the books out.  Once they are a movie I won't have any trouble finding an agent.  With an agent, I will get promoted, and have income for the project. Well, in a perfect world.

In order to promote the idea, I contacted Bob Geldof's agency, apparently he is on holiday for the rest of the month and busy for the first two weeks of September.  I don't know when or if I will hear from him.  How long will the idea stay up on changemakers?  I gave the link that I provided above for him to check the project out.  I look forward to interacting with the folks here, I love solving physical problems and building things. I have a restless curiosity that has given me a wide range of experiece.  I am also a plumber, I was licensed and owned my own business in California.  I lost everything I owned, became homeless, and decided to do something different with my life.  This project is the different thing.  It seems like a lot to bite off, but I think really fast.  Sadly, I am no longer a genius because I refuse to pay my MENSA dues.  We don't see eye to eye on a couple of issues.

Well, there is a writer's howdy.  We are longwinded, and love to ramble.

Wayne, welcome to the Changemakers group. Your proposal for "Biotopia environments incorporated" - will stay on Changemakers (like all solutions posted on Changemakers) so that you can always refer people to it. I appreciate the creativity and passion you bring to making education an exciting adventure, promoting sustainable energy, and your book and screen writing projects.

I like your idea for working in Africa. You may be able to collaborate with others in this community who are doing similar work now in Africa such as "Wind-Powered Water Pumping for Rural Communities" (http://www.changemakers.com/en-us/node/21903).

And you may enjoy pluggng into a Changemakers group that just started called "Film for Social Change" (http://www.changemakers.com/en-us/node/54423).
