What are GMOs?
The term GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organisms and refers to the process of organisms that have had their DNA or RNA altered artificially.
Normally, this involves having the DNA of an organism removed, changed and then reintroduced into the same organism or another one. The objective of the modification is to create a new or modified characteristic.
In the agriculture sector for example, this technology has been used to enable farmers to produce “super crops” that are drought and pest resistant. By doing this, crop productions can be increased and costs decreased.
