Strengthen communities to lessen drug abuse

I lived in Massachusetts as a teenager, not all too long ago. Often my friends and I would go to Providence Rhode Island because they had less "restrictions" on underage drinking. Often we would go and drink to our teenage hearts delite. Among some of our escapades we had run-ins with a lot of drug addicts needing a fix. None really bad, but definitely scary and these people were rather forcful. After High School, a series of friends that I had made moved to Mass. from Rhode Island and were Heroin Addicts. I would try to help them quit their habit, but saw second hand how severe the withdrawls can be. I am a firm believer that if you improve and stregthen the community, you find more people who look out for one another, education on what things like drug abuse can do to a person and their life, and help keep things in better, working order.
