Hi Jakir,

Thanks for submitting your entry form and the beautiful photos! Does the Kayam Farm currently operate any similar farms outside of Baltimore? Any plans to expand to Israel or elsewhere? How do you think the Kayam Farm model would work in a rural community within a developing country?

Kayam does not operate other farms, but there are several other Jewish educational farms popping up all over the United States, and hopefully Israel soon as well. The general idea that could be applied anywhere is to tap into cultural heritages and religious, spiritual sources relating to agriculture- and focus on them, teach them, bring them to life using real farm, food, and community. By bringing these cultural sources to life, farms and communities within any society can enliven both their agriculture and their culture simultaneously, empowering people to grow healthy food in accordance with their ancestral wisdom and communal values. The more we explore our roots, the more we learn about how to approach the most pressing challenges of our day- in the rural, suburban, and urban landscape.
