“Grain Bank is a creative way to connect organic farming with community development. It empowers the farmers and will have significant social impact. However, I do not think that attracting the scientific community should be a top priority. I would like to see this initiative directly address gender issues.”
“I am extremely excited about this initiative and its metrics around sustainability. This initiative was fantastic because it was a poly-culture approach and included a portfolio of crops that prepared farmers for fluctuations in market and climate change. I also liked the building of domestic grain storage facilities because access to this type of facility has been patchy in India since the 1990s.”
- Changemakers “Cultivating Innovations: Solutions for Rural Communities” Judges: TED, General Mills, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, StuffedandStarved.org, Instituto de Pesquisas Ecológicas (Institute for Ecological Research).
