Gaining Government Support for Geotourism

The support of government for the geoturism may be possible to more efficiently with the formation of organization representing the community and City Council of Tourism. A successful experience is the path chosen by the community of the city of Socorro / SP, the initiative of local entrepreneurs.

Description

               February 1994: Creation of the Commission Pro-Tourism ", in which the Fiel of Dreams (Campo dos Sonhos) organization actively participated.

                April 1994: The Commission receives membership from other sectors related to tourism and is now called Group Pro-Tourism.

                On 09 April 1994: The Group presented to the Mayor "the government (Executive Department)" the Travel Plan to Socorro City,  with plan of actions in the area of infrastructure, education, arts, entertainment, attractions and disclosures.

                In 1995 and 1996: The group Pro-Tourism with the participation of about 30 members, shall meet monthly, working in the development of various tourist projects. The main event occurred in early 1996, with the development and delivery of law to establish the COMTUR to City Hall "Legislative Department".

               To further develop and implement the work the Council was divided into committees (initially 06 Committee) composed of 22 representatives of various segments of the community representative.

               Thus, the union of the government, organizations and private enterprise, the result was significantly positive, culminating in the development of 07 projects with the Tourism Department.
