Joe -

I like the idea of using a graphic medium to engage youth in expressing themselves. I checked out the website for Toonseum (http://toonseum.org/) and it looks really cool. I am having a little trouble imagining how folks in Pittsburgh would actually "walk through" the comic book displays. Could you explain this a little more?

Also, you should definitely check out the group Grassroots Comics India (http://www.changemakers.net/en-us/node/16748). They are also part of the Changemakers community and they are doing really interesting stuff.

Best of luck-

Jenna

It's definitely an intriguing concept, and I think it really has potential.  The comic walls would really spruce up any neighborhood.

The concept is really an extension of our North project in some ways. Our goal with North was to create a comic book guide for the Northside neighborhood of Pittsburgh. This project would focus on youth telling the story of their neighborhood in a unique graphic medium.

The popularity of the medium is undeniable, I will be at the San Diego Comic Con all this week and will likely be discussing the project with many of the artists there.

Thanks for supporting the cartoon arts!

Aloha joe,

Comic-Optimist Relief/Reality Entertainment Values!

Your idea & website are wonderful! It's good to see children at the forefront of community PR. The world is waiting for wise children to lead. The unkonwn, from a childs perspective, is a kinetic potential whereas adults may simply see a problem to be solved by a solution. We are the solution, when we understand ourselves, deeper than usual. Children exposed to the world & aware of their impact upon it, are 'positively-dangerous' AMBASSADORS for the health of our planet (in which our societies reside & get their resources from). ENVIRONMENT IS KEY TO LOCAL SURVIVAL! Travel (via internet or vehicle) & the imaginations, hopes & dreams that unite us to the journey, MUST find their way onto the walls of Pittsburgh, to inspire the elderly, encourage upcoming infant-tree, & ask the world to pay attention, to youthful purpose. Give your youth a reason to create newness! Giving youth an unimagined experience to paint (like hovering in LEO, or travel to unkonwn cultural places) will make the local scene an example for a global one. It begins with everrything our eyes see; our hands will manifest what our minds do not disagree with. If the world is our influence, may we influence the world to be fair & share with us, all~!

Youth to my Rescue! Pace your Peace within Patience~!,
