Techonomy Media just announced its second annual Techonomy Conference -- an invitation-only event for leaders devoted to accelerating innovation both in the United States and around the world. Previous attendees included Charles Best of DonorsChoose.org, Ushahidi founder Ory Okolloh, and Google chairman Eric Schmidt.
The Ashoka family is very excited to take part in this year's conference as a Techonomy partner, providing a range of opportunities to move forward the most promising ideas, partnerships and initiatives coming out of the event. Joining Ashoka as partners will be Mike Federle, who oversees Techonomy's strategic partnerships and sponsors the Techonomy Fellows Program, and Simone Ross, who manages the Program for Techonomy and previously served as director of Fortune Magazine's Conference Division.
"The only thing more powerful than an innovative idea in the hands of a entrepreneur who aims to change the world is when these innovators come together and start collaborating, as we saw in last year’s Techonomy conference," said Bill Drayton, Ashoka's founder and CEO. "Ashoka is eager to help Techonomy turn this year’s conversation into collaborative action and impact."
Techonomy founder David Kirkpatrick will host the conference at the Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain Resort in Tucson, Arizona from November 13th through the 15th. Kirkpatrick is a journalist, commentator and author of The Facebook Effect: The Inside Story of the Company that is Connecting the World. He was also founder and long-time host of Fortune’s Brainstorm conference series.
The main focus of Techonomy 2011 is to further advance the global dialogue about the centrality of technology and innovation in driving progress for both business and society.
"We created Techonomy because we believe that leaders in business and society don't sufficiently appreciate the pace and gravity of technological change, and the opportunities that represents."
