There is a moment when the human spirit stirs. When we see shortcomings in our world, an awareness is kindled and we are driven to act. From the small, fleeting problems of daily life, to the great challenges facing humanity, we have unprecedented opportunity to make a difference.
But what makes us move from awareness to action? From idea to impact? How can we boost our confidence in our ability to solve problems? What are the ingredients to launching a successful solution? How can that idea become a program that touches hundreds? Or thousands?
Every bit of change matters. And at every level of engagement, what propels us is inspiration – from role models, mentors, collaborators, and supporters who offer advice and encouragement.
This month, Changemakers is thrilled to bring you an abundance of practical and passionate inspiration from people who have acted on that that initial stirring of the soul and are making a difference.
In honor of women’s unequivocal contribution to making the world better through problem solving and innovation, we are celebrating International Women’s Day all month long, with a daily dose of inspiration on the Changemakers Idea ExChange blog, brought to you by women who have it in spades because they are making change right now.
The women featured on Idea ExChange are breaking down barriers to women’s empowerment and, through innovation, tackling global problems on every front. They build strong organizations and networks. They unlock economic wealth for women by pioneering property rights. They confront gender inequality through technology. They leverage the power of sport to combat rape and HIV.
Some of them are doing it in their own communities, others on a global scale. They work in different fields, in different countries, in different conditions. What they all share is a deep belief that everyone is a changemaker. And in their own words this month, they will show you how you can achieve the change you want to see in the world.
No matter where you are; no matter how little or much experience you have; no matter how large or small an impact you want to have; no matter how far along you are in your plan for change: You will find a wealth of information to help you reach your goals. Visit the Changemakers Idea ExChange blog throughout the month of March for videos, interviews, and articles from the most influential women working at the forefront of creating a better world, and succeeding. You’ll hear from soccer star Mia Hamm, Judith Rodin, president of the Rockefeller Foundation, Chetna Sinha of the Mann Deshi Mahila Bank and many, many others.
So wherever you sit – whether in a London skyscraper of a multinational company or the frontlines of a community clinic in Zambia, we hope to inspire you to think about new frontiers of change. To think about what’s possible both in your immediate community and beyond. No change is too small, no ambition is too great. We hope you will make change from wherever you are.
