How Can Business Be a Force for Change? G+ Hangout Next Monday
Business leaders can be a force for addressing climate change. They need to be. Now.
The world's top climate scientists are just about convinced that human activities are the leading cause of global warming since the 1950s. They're 95 percent certain (up from 90 percent in 2007, and 66 percent in 2001).
Deforestation, burning fossil fuels, and other classic (and destructive) business practices have left us with a warmer atmosphere and warmer, acidifying oceans, among other challenges. We'll be feeling the effects of past decisions for centuries to come.
But it's not too late to take action. To learn more about what scientists, corporate CEOs, and social entrepreneurs are doing to green the planet, Ashoka Changemakers will host a Google+ Hangout next week to discuss environmental stewardship.
Join us right here at 11 a.m. ET (3 p.m. GMT) on October 28 to hear from three industry leaders:
+ Thomas Lingard, Unilever Global Advocacy Director
+ Mitch Hedlund, Recycle Across America CEO and founder, and an Ashoka Fellow
+ Nikki Bartlett, Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership Senior Programme Manager
Also, if you have an idea for making sustainable living commonplace, enter your solution in the Unilever Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneurs Awards by Nov. 11, 2013. There is a total of €200,000 up for grabs.
