Developing an operational framework for a program of student-led learning communities promoting various definitions of social capital as components of functional communities, businesses and economies.
Students will be provided with experiential learning opportunities that encourage cross-faculty awareness (within the context of their university communities)and cross-stakeholder awareness (within the context of their post graduate experiences).
As students progress throught thier respective fields of study they will be provided further opportunities to apply the tools and self-awareness gained from their participation, providing peer mentorship to incoming students, and disseminating their learning to students in their last year of elementary and last two years of highschool education.
Developing this program in a manner that encourages both cross-faculty and intergenerational value transfer is by virtue of its purpose a complex and multi-stakeholder effort, both within and external to the institution.
Project budgets will reflect the stageable nature of the project: initially, funding is required for a contractor, existing staff member or new employee to market the program concept to various stakeholders, securing their participation in the project research, formation and review. Depending on the size and scope of the endeavor this is anticipated to take aproximately eighteen months.
Initial project implementation would require funding from participating Faculties, the institution, supportive donors, and external community, regional or provincial partners.
