Create online interactive financial literacy for 5-12 year old children, teaching valuable lessons about money, interest, savings, credit and trade. The financial literacy program will be created in Woogi World which is an existing interactive children’s educational site. The lessons will supplement the extensive virtual economy which exists within the free Woogi World site.
Currently children earn watts (Woogi currency), coupons, stickers, trading cards and other prizes for their achievements both in the virtual and real worlds. They can open a virtual bank account, earn interest, open a booth in the flea market, buy/sell/trade items and donate to good causes. Learning financial concepts through a virtual world while interacting with other children provides a solid foundation which can be further developed through financial literacy lessons complementing their virtual world experiences.
Children will also have access to many other free programs available in Woogi World including internet safety training (CyberHero), interactive multi player educational games, Smithsonian Institute videos and educational clubs.
