Solace Ghana is a project designed to inspire confidence in the young Ghanaian woman. It aims at equipping the young average Ghanaian woman with the capacity to be integrated into the global community through self development. It seeks to help young women break out of their darkness of self-doubt, find themselves and to accept their unique Africanness. It is projected at creating a world where the young Ghanaian woman is empowered through motivation, to break free from the shackles of low self-esteem, ignorance on female-related health issues and all limitations that keep her from reaching her true potentials.
Problem
A majority of the population of growing women feel inadequate one way or another mainly as a result of abuse; whether verbal, physical or sexual. Abuse has been a plague in the lives of every girl or woman. Again, the media’s portrayal of what an ideal woman ought to look like goes a long way to shred every bit of faith these young women may have left since our African features conflict with the media’s ideals of beauty.
These self-esteem issues do not only affect the individual but go a long way to affect the society as a whole. Society seems to be churning out a generation of young women who are self-loathing, shallow, superficial and timid and who eventually become burdens on society.
Again illiteracy rate among women on female health-related issues is quite alarming. Ignorance among women on such issues is killing thousands of women yearly and as a result, a large number of the productive female population is being lost to diseases thereby stifling the development of the nation.
Solution
This project seeks to motivate young women into exploring all the composites that make up the complete woman by motivating them into self-acceptance and appreciation. This will be done by seasoned motivational speakers and influential personalities in the community.
Health experts will be solicited to educate our young women on the various female-related health issues that may confront the woman.
What makes this unique is the fact that this project will not just be a one-off interaction with the girls but a process that will eventually lead to attitude change. This will be done by starting a club ‘Solace’ in each school which will ensure constant interaction with the girls.
Example
Motivating the young women into self acceptance and appreciation will give them the confidence to take on challenges in their academic, professional and personal lives.Educating them on the various health conditions that may confront the woman will equip them on measures to take to either prevent or manage a medical condition. this will reduce the number of deaths resulting from diseases among women.
