All over the world high functioning people with autism have suffered from having invisible needs for support. Up to 3m people in the US and 78m people globally may have autistic traits enough to get a diagnosis within the autism spectrum. More than half of these probably are high functioning and as such a great – yet – untapped pool of skilled resources for the corporate sector – in particular within the Science, Technology, Engineering, Math sector. The unemployment rate is up to 90% for people with autism which leads to bad health conditions for most of them.
It does not have to be this way. Specialisterne is the proof.
Specialisterne is a model originated in Denmark with focus on assessment, training, education and employment of high functioning people with autism in order to let them obtain meaningful and productive jobs for the benefit of the individuals, corporate sector and society as a whole.
As founder I am an active Ashoka Fellow and takes part in the Globalizer program.
We have set a goal to enable one million meaningful and productive jobs for high functional people with autism and similar challenges – but we can only do it in a close co-operation with leading corporate players.
We invite BI to join us in bringing this concept to Connecticut and propose that BI will be a leading corporate partner to tailor the Specialisterne concept to Connecticut and to the pharmaceutical sector as a new business area for Specialisterne.
