Our web service TracksGiving is a donation tracking system. Businesses can use TracksGiving to launch transparent and creative cause-marketing campaigns. They can integrate their checkout systems with TracksGiving to engage their customers at point of sale.
For example:
1) A handicrafts store allows customers to read the story of the rural artisans who made their products and donate for their livelihood security.
2) An e-commerce site allows its customers to round up their bills to nearest dollar and donate the change.
3) A restaurant eliciting customer feedback donates for every completed survey.
4) A bank allows customers to donate from interest earned.
Once a donation is made, TracksGiving immediately generates a tracking page. Donors use it to transparently track the flow of their donations up to the last mile.
TracksGiving automates the accounting, billing, collections, generating tax-receipt, sending report and tracking donations to reduce NGOs’ clerical work.
TracksGiving is a bold innovation because it digitizes donation information in a publicly visible and searchable format on the Internet. The donation information includes information like who donated, to which charity, through which business, how and when did the money flow, who received the tax exemption, where there any deductions in the middle, how the charity used the donation, etc.
Problem
Despite rampant poverty and acute economic disparity, both individual and corporate giving in India significantly lags global benchmarks. As per the Bain philanthropy report 2011, individual and corporate giving in India is only 0.3% to 0.4% of GDP. Donors cite the lack of transparency and accountability in giving programs and the lack of awareness of channels for donating as major constraints. We will change this status quo through a disruptive, low cost innovation.
