I would love to know whether there is a way the Peace Tiles project (http://www.peacetiles.net) can partner with your effort to develop theatrical decor as well as further work through some of the issues that are raised through your theater efforts?
Do you think that this intervention could be used in the context of artisanal mining where there are conflicts between migrant and local communities and between the legal owners of concessions and the miners?

I am an actor with the Toronto Playback Theatre Company and the title of our 06/07 project is Finding Common Ground!! Incredible! We work with homeless shelters, youth at risk and the comunity in general to create dialogue. It?s in service of others, for others to express themselves, be touched, touch others and therefore create dialogue that ultimately leads towards common ground. It is always fully achieved with Palyback. Ultimately our agenda is achieved just by listening to people's stories. The most natural way to understanding someone is to become them without judgement and Playback continuously offers that opportunity ? live!!! Your project will touch many hearts. Our site is www.torontoplayback.com Please do connect with us!!

Participatory theatre for Conflict Transformation is a tool which is right to be used in a region like DRC where peaple don't have enough education. What is interesting here is that the population participate to the spectacle and give their view about the conflict target and the solutions to be used to transform it. Let me encourage SFCG for this approach

We work in Goma with HEAL Africa (a wholistic community-based approach to transformation). We would love to talk with you about your experiences and explore some form of exchange. Drama is such a powerful form of communication...we are called to transform this growing culture of violence into one of peace and respect for the most vulnerable citizens. thank you for what you are doing!

This groups innovativeness is so unique in the sence that thay have been able to get the community to be part of the change chain and this has made it possible for them (the community) to analyse their problem and check their mistakes. Drama has a long lasting effect on people because one is affected more by what you see than just what you hear. The model chosen to effect change has been effective.
L?ann?e pass?e ?

Your innovative approach is one I have always been advocating. I am overjoyed that you are working in South Kivu, the people there have endured much hardship. I have worked in South Kivu and am aware of all related issues. I established CCMV (Centres de Conseils De Mieux Vivre) centers with CCCs (Concerned Citizens Committees)to provide assistance to displaced and war affected families. I hope to set up additional centers if I get funded to set up more CCMV centers there and work in partnership with all organizations to rapidly bring peace and economic prosparity.

I am really excited about this work, and it seems to be quite genuine and effective. I personally know a lot about Forum Theater, Image Theater, and Invisible Theater, and I always find that when people read about specifically HOW this type of theater work is done, they get very excited. The general methods you mention are all correct, but I think it would be great to give some real examples of how for example Forum Theater is used, and what it looks like in this particular context. Also I think it would be important to mention the man, Augusto Boal, who developed all of these three types of theater in a Brazillian context. Don't stop!

Search for Common Ground's innovative approach in using theatrical performance as a medium for conflict transformation is highly laudable.
This action must be made in video to send in countries where conflicts are.

Anything cultural that has positive political implications is worthwhile indeed.
