I personally travelled on a tour of the READ libraries in Nepal. Libraries - understates the impact of the project. The "libraries" were in addition to a place for books, a place to become literate, to learn basic computer skills, to come together as a community to improve their own education and ability to start and maintain sustainable business to improve the infrastucture of their own community. While there I was able to appreciate the pride and involvement in each village of the local community for what THEY created for themselves with the initial help and training of READ-global. Again - Library does not begin to describe the total impact of education and self-sustaining business opportunities that this project allows a community to create and build for themselves.

The unique, in-depth, local programs offered by Myths and Mountains cater to the most discerning, astute traveler that is seeking to bring about a change in our small world.

As the syndicated literary columnist for the Swift newspapers here at Lake Tahoe and an active supporter of the public libraries here in Nevada I cannot praise READ enough. Toni and I came to know each other because of books and I became very interested in the work Myths and Mountains was doing with libraries in Nepal. As I am also an elected Supervisor for the Nevada Tahoe Conservation District and a member of the Board of the Nevada League of Conservation Voters, sustainability is imperative to me not only environmentally, and economically but also in quality of life. The READ library project achieves the complete "triple bottom line" approach and brings a pride, a connection to the larger world and literacy to the small villages in Nepal and soon to India. I am proud to be a supporter of this endeavor and encourage others to support it as well..

Last October, I was fortunate enough to travel with Dr. Toni Neubauer to Nepal to visit some of the community libraries that the READ-Global Foundation has helped establish. The experience was incredible. We were able to visit with and talk to people from different regions of Nepal and learn about their lives, concerns, hopes, and dreams. It is evident that each community takes great pride in its library and the self-sustaining business(es) that supports it. While individual libraries were unique, they all share a desire to improve the lives of the people in their villages especially the children.
The trip was a wonderful opportunity to see more of a country than the accepted tourist sites. I have traveled with Myths and Mountains to Tibet as well as Nepal and plan to do so again.
