Last year I visited Sermoneta, a beautiful and small place in Latium, Italy. There I discovered that it was certified by Touring Club of Italy through the Orange Flag label.
I knew something about the initiative but I never visited a place that had been certified by Touring Club of Italy.
I was there on holiday with my family and I had the opportunity to appreciate many things: the historic resources were preserved and opened and the entire place was clean and quiet.
Moreover, inhabitants have been very warm and gentle. I met local productions and I spent two days in contact with nature, traditions and the locales.
I advised my friends and colleagues to go to Sermoneta: they will rest, meet the local culture, learn from the locales and use what the territory offers in a sustainable way.
I think this project is very important to valorise small realities in Italy. When I travel I often look for sustainable places: I will visit other realities certified with the Orange Flag.
I read Touring Club of Italy application: I think it is a very interesting project aimed to conserve and promote small Italian places of the inland. I like the richness of Italian resources and environment; I have appreciated the fact that Touring Club of Italy gives importance to the involvement of local population in all the certification process and the attention for environment and new sustainable technologies. It seems to me that the Orange Flag initiative has created a network of best practices around Italy.
I found that a very important aspect in the whole path is the on-site inspection, because Touring Club of Italy can directly test on place its indicators. I think that also the Improvement Plans are very interesting documents which can help small villages to improve their performances.
Results have been very positive: this program should be exported abroad! Congratulations
