I would love to hear feedback about what you think works/doesn't work about this idea (meaning all of you out there who have just read this entry). The beautiful thing about a brand new non-profit, or hopefully for any organization, is the fact that there are always so many questions to be answered! And so much fine-tuning to be done...
I mean, we are pretty good at what we do when it comes to our artistic specialties. Stephen can take a photo that will catch your breath. Paul can make you cry, laugh, scream, and be silent all within a two minute video.
But we don't want to just be good at art or media. We want to be good at using art to help people. We want that video to emotionally ransack the person that will then put into action a life-changing response based on what he has seen.
So how has media impacted your life? Has it changed the way you see other people? The way you see yourself? More importantly...why?
Love this entry! Sounds like, charitable organizations and humanitarian causes are "outsourcing" their communications demands to you guys for next to nothing, which is really innovative! My only question is, have you guys considered in the long run to transfer these skills of yours to people at these organizations and humanitarian organisations so that eventually they may be able to tell their own story?
Media has impacted me in a where it made me realise we all have the supernatural power through using media to make something that appear "dead" become "alive". :)
While teaching these skills to the organizations we work with is outside our realm of possibilities right now, it is certainly something to look into in the future, maybe on a small scale. We are definitely about helping people help themselves.
However I will also say that the reason we do what we do is because what we offer is the best of the best in communication and media. This is our trade, and a lot of times what people need is not just media, but good media. We want to offer the people a way to tell their stories in a way that will actually move people into action, and sometimes having a non-profit employee who is really good at feeding the hungry or sheltering the homeless may not have the skills or the time to tell their own story.
We want to bridge that gap for them; we want to give them the resources they need without any additional cost to their mission or to the people they serve.
