What is your idea? What makes it innovative? Why is it important?
CGS is the world's first high-resolution online editing platform making it possible for broadcasters to instantaneously solicit, cut and even remix online content on a theme and integrate the remix at broadcast quality into a news segment. What this essentially means is the for the first time in history the citizen has an opportunity to have his/her stories and footage integrated into news, reality, documentary stories and events. For example, Anderson Cooper can reach out to the world to get the "real story" on what's happening in Gaza, and survivors can be the first to tell their story by allowing those multiple citizen accounts to become edited, remixed into one narrative etc.

What will be the impact of your idea?
Citizens Global Studio (CGS) represents a breakthrough in participatory media, an online platform that affords audience participation, allowing citizen footage to become integrated into broadcast quality media, news, and entertainment and in so doing, brings new voices into the mainstream.
The vision for CGS sprang from Paul Lussier’s desire to create a new type of media narrative by bringing disenfranchised, disempowered, and often misunderstood voices to the mix, and giving them a tool to share their story.

Citizens' Global Studio was featured at Aspen Ideas as one of the world's great new innovations; is being invited to the White House on January 26th for a GreenTheWhiteHouse campaign (see greenthewhitehouse.com); the Obama Administration has invited CGS to demo with the purpose in mind of becoming integral to their media-making to give traction to Change; and, CGS is currently in discussions with the United Nations Framework for Climate Change to bring citizens the post-Kyoto protocol and turn the new treaty into a global, collaborative Plan for the Planet involving citizens stories of solutions from all over the world.
Sustainability
How much will it cost to launch your idea?
Sustained by licensing fees for the platform; co-productions with broadcasters and news; on-site advertising; server usage and website building and administration fees. The beauty of CGS is it is as valuable to broadcasters and news outlets as it is to citizens and consumers who can come to the site to make media and eventually trade in raw footage, a citizens Associated Press.
The venture thus far as been self-financed and an additional $50-70k will allow us to develop further the edit interface which will enhance the collaborative component to the platform.
