A nuclear group of 50 HIV+ members of both from our communities and SACRENA will provide leadership by riding and recruiting others through various marketplaces along Lake Victoria’s fishing spots in Kisumu City. Cycling for Hope tour will be based on grandma's cycling clubs already established near fish markets in these towns. HIV+ People will be encouraged to come to Sacrena Sporting satellites to access voluntary services provided like counseling services, trainings, sports, cycling and referrals. Initially, cycling of hope events will begin modestly, and gradually build to crescendo for World AIDS Day every year.

In the trading center where no club exists, promotions of road shows will be done with puppetry and dramatized choral verses by Cyclists and the community geared toward moralling local people to voluntarily participate in riding with their bikes. Churches, Mosques, community based organizations, grandmothers cycling clubs and widows unions in the communities will be asked to take the lead in activities.

Provide one sentence describing your impact/intended impact.

The Cycling for Hope will serve as a focus to bring the attention to AIDS orphans, those living with HIV with educational messages

What impact has your innovation had to date/or what is your intended impact? Exactly who are the beneficiaries?

We expect the activities to increase the number of individuals pledging to support one child orphan at a time, giving hope through cycling for the HIV/AIDS patients, enhancing new local cycling vent of sports, empowerment community caretakers to access health related care services, the poor and the discouraged given hope and motivation to open up about their HIV status also expect that these activities will challenge the Kenyan ministry of health and children department donors to make treatment and care and support or OVCs more widely available and much more accessible than is the case currently

How many people have you served directly?

We plan to serve more than 200,000 people directly through this event, reach 1000 people infected with HIV/AIDS, seek to advocate to the support of and visible 250 orphans basic needs, form 300 widows joining the widows union, orphans clubs formed to address the rights of the vulnerable children, treatment access for community members to access treatments at the nearby health facilities. And have developed 50 Cycling for Hope champs

How many people have you served indirectly?

We have not created this measurement but a community wide impact and change is expected

Please list any other measures reflective of the impact of your innovation?

- Number of Cycling for Hope events
- Number of cyclists in each event

What are the main barriers to creating or achieving your impact?

the main barriers could be the lack of resources to jump start this programe. The need of accommodations during the cycle tour, cycle repairs, medications and food for participants all require funding and if little resources are not there to be used on cyclists this can become a barrier.

How is your initiative financed (or how do you expect your initiative will be financed)?

a) Sacrena expects that the finances of this event will be through sports sponsorships from well wishers and with the help of Changemakers and the sports for social change network volunteers,
b) Community shall play important role; bikes operators donating their own bikes to be used and rolled out to other major towns nearby in the next circle.
c) The 10% of the total funds raised from the globalgiving.com/1713 shall be used to sustain this project.
d) Referrals services to healthcare facilities, bikes purchased will be used to yearly organize this event.

If known, provide information on your finances and organization.

sacrena ghas not received any funding except through the globalgiving- www.globalgiving.com/171 we are raising to mjorly suppiort the programm of ophans support.we dio not have already exixting donors to wich could be our intretred of getting one.the sustinability we have is the liittle income generating activities we started of paultry and dairy goat.alsio the membership subscription of the0.5 USD every mebers hlp us to meet other needs like administrtion costs.we have the bank account and other activities but most of it voltariry and resources used excep the manpower and the community/church kind offerings.

What is the potential demand for your innovation?

Those seeking support and goodwill for their plight and the community at large that will be participating and may not realize what an important message the event will share. But the success of the event will fuel a community wide demand. The program also involves fundraising and bringing on board different stakeholders e.g.health facilities, sports people and other partners - the importance of their involvement will also fuel demand

What are the main barriers to financial sustainability?

It is difficult to receive membership contributions and monthly renewals on a regular basis, we must ensure that the girls provide this vital service and the neighbors see the fantastic value in having a clean living space in order to have them pay for it every time. Although many may, not all will. Steady funding stream is difficult to obtain.
