I found this entry really exciting for a number of reasons. 1. You are reaching out to a unique group 2. you are helping to empower youth by way of giving them freedom of mobility and transportation 3. In a time when we drastically need to start thinking about more sustainable forms of transportation, you are reaching the audience that will really need to be bikers in the future! Great work!
Since you are reaching out to primarily low income folks, is the cost of bikes a problem? Do you have any kind of bike donation system? I think you should check out this entry that was submitted by a 13 year old who started a program to collect used bikes http://www.changemakers.net/en-us/node/4551 Perhaps you could set up a similar program to help cover the cost of bikes?
Lastly, do you see this as something that could potentially be set up nationwide? Could this be rolled out in every YMCA across the country? That could have a huge impact!
