What is the primary problem your venture is trying to address and how are you addressing it (or planning to address it)?

the problem we are trying to address is the poverty and the unawareness spread between the people of the unprivileged areas and we are addressing it by applying different programs which are: charity - youth development - educational classes - micro projects - illiteracy elimination - orphans' care and computer knowledge programs. Our main goal is development in all the fields of life not only fighting the poverty by giving them money but by teaching them how to get money and how to spend it in a proper way.

Project Description

AYB is a student campaign that aims to develop Misr Al Qadima District and its residents by university students in Egypt who continuously seek interpersonal competency development and empowerment of others.

Unique and different

What makes us unique and different is that ayb’s campaign is initiated and totally run by the students of Ain shams university .We are Egyptian youth who work on helping the people of Abu-Qarn district not only financially but we are aiming to developing these people by various programs .We believe that the development will not only affect the Egyptian community but also shape the personalities and conceptions of all AYB members by raising their social awareness.

Project plan

for the next 6 months we have different events for the residents of Abu-karn and the members of AYB such as: AYB's conference , School painting , Recycling campaign , Business competition , Medical carvan , seasonal clothing in addition to the sessions and activities done by each of the seven programs.
P.S. : Our calender is uploaded with this application

Partnerships

We had a partnership with (KEY) career development center in AYB-2008 paper recycling campaign, a partnership withelaraby NGO in distributing AYB food packs and a partnership with PACKIN painting company in painting and decorating “EL FOSTAT” primary school. We also had partnerships with Alwan we Awtar (youth venture organization) and via (charitable student activity).

Impact

Impact

We reduce the pain of the less fortunate in our society through our developmental programs which is our path for a better country

Effectiveness

we served more than 2000 families in Abu-karn district through various developmental programs which are charitable, social, medical, cultural, educational and financial. and we benefit more than 250 members of our activity in a way that their personalities and conceptions are shaped and raised their sense of responsibility towards their country.

How do you engage and impact the community?

We engage and impact the community through creating the right and the effective image for development so that they can be inspired from our innovation and share us our vision "for a better country. "

How do you measure this impact?

we measure this impact in different ways, first of all by increasing the number of families we're serving every year, second by increasing the number of members , partners and supporters every year. and last but not least by seeing the required output and it's impact on the circumstances of the residents of Abu-karn district

Obstacles

As we started our project , it was hard to convince others with our vision as most of people weren’t optimistic enough to believe in our vision so we had a problem with the human resources and there was another problem as there was no governmental support at all , now we face some financial issues as we find it hard to get the proper fund for our projects and last but not least we face some problems with the residents of Abu-karn district as the poverty is spread among them so it was hard for them to accept the development idea.

Financing source

(or how do you expect your initiative will be financed)

We are expecting our projects to be financed by sponsors whether it financial sponsoring or in-kind sponsoring and by our partners and finally by those organizations and foundations who seek the development of people and the youth.

Aside from financial sustainability, how do you plan to grow and sustain your project?

we are serving abu-karn district by applying seven programs serving different ages and criteria of people, each year we enhance each program and merge between all our programs to serve all the residents and also we apply new programs to serve those who didn't fit in our programs at the beginning. on the other hand every year we target to teach the members of our activity more about soft skills and business and technical subjects through different events. and for our project we tend to obtain professionalism through the flow of potentials every year as the board changes every year to make sure that the ideas and thoughts change to reach our best performance

Finance details

the money raised is through sponsorships and partnerships who provide us by money and in kind donations , and we have 2 main partners who are ELARABY company as a main sponsor and knowledge academy as an academic sponsor and those sponsors vary every year based on our needs , and our college is a partner who provides our sustainability legally wise, number of people on our team is about 250 members divided into 150 members working in the 7 programs and 100 members working in the OC (Organizing committees) and the structure will be uploaded in a document with this form.

Creative funding

one of the creative funding projects we have is the recycling campaign as we started our campaign by telling people the importance of recycling in our lives and to the surrounding environment and encouraged them to give us material to recycle such as papers and books and after gathering all the needed materials we sold them to recycling factories and got a good amount of money , other event is Keswa event we gather old clothes from different people whether they are in our activity or not and start selling them in a clothes gallery with low prices.

Other non finance needs

the most important non finance needs are trainings to the crew of the activity on how to deal with problems and how to plan our project and how to sustain our project in order to grow and achieve our goals. besides we need governmental support and media support to gain more partners and supporters who will help us through our projects and events.

The Story

Motivation

it started one day in 2004 in Ain Shams University. 2 students barely knew each other, somehow, they talked about college and how aimless and useless they felt and they wanted to do something of value. after 2 days they were watching TV and they watched a charitable ceremony and rewards given to those who are doing charitable projects. so they started to volunteer with those who are working in this field and then they started up our activity in college with the help of 7 or 8 students to spread out the idea in the college and every year the idea attracts more people as we reach the number of 250 members and still growing.

Awards

I've received different awards on the personal track such as: the first place reward in the student's company of the year competition in Egypt and the third place reward in the same competition in the arab world , in addition to different rewards in other activities like ISLC ( international student leadership conference ) and schneider academy (business module).
for our activity we haven't received any awards as we never participated in any competitions.

Broader context

We aim to develop and change the youth in two major ways ,first we have a program named youth development , it aims to teach the youth in Abu-karn district the values and good manners , helps them with their studies and try to change their lifestyle, the other way is through developing the youth members in our project as we raise their sense of responsibility towards the society and people around them

Ongoing

going through the experience of AYB shapes our personalities and conceptions , as those people who saw the poor and unaware people and devoted themselves to serve those less fortunate people will always try to help them in the various stages of life whether they have jobs and families or they are even grandfathers the sense of reponsibility gained in AYB will always pushes them towards helping the poor and less fortunate people
