At People to People Tourism (PPT), we believe that there is simply no substitute for hands on real life experience in another culture. We are tour known to offer enriching opportunities to tourist looking for culture based attractions or products that enables tourist to interact and experience life in local communities, visit community development projects and other fair trade groups. We are an educational tour that gets you to mingle freely and discuss anything be it local or international issues with the local people. PPT is a tour that offers thinkers, intellectuals and ordinary people opportunities to meet and listen to each other; exchange ideas, cultural beliefs, value systems etc we are basically a tour that helps build greater cross cultural understanding and international cooperation between peoples. Given that Kenya is known as a country where “one can experience the whole world in one safari.” PPT tour will also give you a chance of seeing our beautiful wildlife; palm fringed coastal beaches, the countryside and much more!!

What is the likely impact of your idea?
PPT as an alternative approach to the traditional tourism industry in Kenya and Africa for that matter, is to make a shift from doing things than already existing by promoting more interactive tours with the locale; such as cultural immersion tourism, informal business “Jua kali” sector tourism and up country village based eco-tourism etc. Our brand of tourism is practically about enhancing closer engagement with the Kenya’s’ 43 ethnic communities. PPT is a sound approach that enables tourists to experience our rich cultural diversity in line with the concept underlying the PPT idea. We are not out to disrupt Kenya’s established competitive advantage in the tourism world but to complement it alongside our community based tourism packages, ours is a double aged approach in that we also organize customized wildlife safaris and holidays to our beautiful world famous coastal beaches etc
What would it take to launch or spread your idea?
In our view, we need to encourage tourists to visit other destinations away from the traditional ones such as Game parks and coastal beaches or call it market not currently serviced or ignored by regular Kenya’s tours operators. To spread our ideas across the globe, we need to identify and work with overseas potential business partners keen in embracing PPT brand of tourism and school of thought. Besides spreading the idea through the word of mouth, internet, brochures etc, its time PPT marketing team embrace e-tourism. PPT needs to also actively participate in international tourist fairs be it in Europe, Asia, USA, Australia, Africa etc. What PPT requires is a proactive marketing strategy that would serve as a spring board for generating more sustainable income and in the process put PPT on a better financial footing now and for many years to come. Describe yourself as a social innovator.
My motivation is to see others improve so that they can be co-workers in the task of sharing this world’s wealth. We are so to say in this earth to take care of each other and rest of creation. If I may use a religious term, we are God’s stewards/managers of God’s creation. Materially I am not rich; but have certain God given talent that I have always used to contribute to community development activities. I see myself as a conveyor belt for sharing my talent with others. Whenever traveling I do carry my “things to do list” The activities may range from physical, intellectual, spiritual or practical work e.g. family, social life, the church, job -related activities, self -educational and recreational pursuits etc. Rest and sleep is also to me important because rest both physical and mentally helps me make good use of my subconscious mind in solving my problems without much mental effort.
