In just a sentence or two, would you share what you see as the most effective way your program is building, fostering or nurturing a culture of empathy?

Also, I'd like to invite you and any other applicants to to join in a recorded Skype based interview and panel discussion to talk about your program and empathy. For more see.

Edwin,

Thanks for your e-mail.

Here's my two-sentence thought on how to best nurture empathy: "There's convincing scientific, psychological, pedagogical, and anecdotal data to suggest that children are naturally empathic, and learn best through collaborating with each others and at their own speed -- and that's what we emphasize at Peking High International. Unfortunately, many parents and educators create a stressful and competitive learning environment full of artificial constraints and short-term goals (test scores and grades) that diminish children's desire to love and care for others."

And thanks for the offer to talk over Skype -- I'll contact you via e-mail.

best, Jiang Xueqin
