Hawaiian Manga at http://www.changemakers.com/economicopportunity/entries/hawaiian-manga
Location
I would like to assist Hawaii in supporting a market similar to Japan's support of manga (a 6 billion dollar annual income for Japan). Basically, intellectual properties would be sold throughout Hawaii (as it's sold in Japan) in newsstands, noodle shops, at bus stations, anywhere and everywhere, creating an income to support a product line for the purpose of fueling jobs worldwide (supporting writers, illustrators, animators, video-game makers, merchandise developers, buyers and sellers, etc.). Local businesses need to open up to the idea, winning this award could make this "movement" possible. It sounds like a fluke, but economists will tell you it's not.
Reason:
Since the search results for "Hawaiian Manga" have stopped working (not sure if this holds true for other applicants as well), I've provided the link above and am nominating it to ensure it remains up for consideration. Good luck to all the great candidates out there, the judges are going to have a tough decision to make! 6/17/2011 : Yay, I see that this "search" glitch is now working again! I have a couple of un-biased nominations (media-related people) to furnish upon request if this idea develops greater consideration. Mahalo!
