richard that is a very great idea if it can be executed.you are going to help so many youths out there who have got the music talent but it just fades away like that due to lack of opportunities. It is great to see music out of the classroom and students can look onto it as ameans of employment. Keep on the idea. I would like to know when you will hol the first competition because we are eager to see upcoming musicians come up with their music rather than other people's music. I will stay in touch with you to encourage you to progress

Thanks laban for that positive comment. In fact i plan to hold the first competition in March 2010. I wanted it this year but all schools are moving into the most crucial term of the year when students are working hard to get promotted and others are going to sit for their national examinations. Otherwise am ready to move on with this idea. personally i think it will help these young talents greatly.

i think this project will give chance to the young talent to get exposure and realise their dreams. this is what most young musicians lack. Try as much as you can to make this idea a reality richard. Good luck.

Dear bob thanks for the time you have used to read my idea and also make a comment about it. In my country music is aly aready a carreer and if we start training these musicians early enough then they can workout a future  for themselves. Thanks man

i have read this project and i am convinced it is a worthwhile one. it is unique, given that it takes from a shcolarly subject in uganda secondary schools that is popular but not fully explored. a few schools have music as a subject on their actual curriculum. with a basis like the one this project is sure to provide, possibilities of a revolution in all angles of music as a subject of study in our schools are very much at hand now. good project!!!!!

On July 28, 2009 the judges reviewed the entries for the Changemakers “Champions of Quality Education in Africa” competition and would like to pass on the following feedback (listed below) for your entry. Thank you for applying and for your hard work in the field. We are excited to archive your entry to serve as a leading solution for the worldwide community of innovators. We wish you continued luck with your innovative, sustainable, and socially impactful initiatives.

All the best, The Changemakers Team

“Great initiative! I really like that these competitions are giving children the opportunity to not only produce and perform music, but could potentially prepare them for their entry into the music industry. It’s an initiative that is focused on very specific skills, but can still be expanded to other schools.”

“It’s great that this teacher is using ICT/software based innovation through a music club to help the education of girls. While they do have a financing source, I would also suggest looking into a private sponsor as well, especially since the initiative is at an early stage and equipment will be needed for future productions.”
