Qu’est-ce qui rend votre idée unique?

EduIcan will be implementing a system that is currently being used only for social networking to benefit our future generation and support them in their studies. EduIcan Sharing Knowledge is a project that will emphasize on breaching that gap and belief that students from poor communities and rural schools cannot succeed and will focus on educating the communities not to discriminate on based financial circumstances.
What make EduIcan project unique is:
1. Peer2Peer education: Students learn best from other students. This will enable them to interact well and participates with other students from different schools without fear to be themselves and ask questions.
2. Instant integration: With a click of one sms which will be distributed to the student group database, the student will be able to get different responses.
3. Support: Having someone interested in their work and life will boost their morals and encourage them to work hard and succeed.
4. Tutorial Support: This will offer them a different learning environment from their everyday learning classes and someone to interact with who doesn’t know them or about their family or life circumstances.

Quel impact avez-vous atteint?

EduIcan wants to bring about a situation where all students understand that they can succeed based on their aspirations, potential and self trust and not on their financial background. The program will provide the following impact and benefits to the communities and schools where it will work:
1. Students
a. Improved and better pass rates.
b. Guidance on future careers opportunities, scholarship availability and other academic oriented information.
c. Getting them in touch with other students with similar challenges, whom they can relate to.
d. Good and better understanding on the importance of education.
e. Access to information technology.
2. Schools
a. Improved and higher pass rates for students.

3. Parents and Community
a. Good understanding on the importance of education.
b. Get them involved in their children education.
c. Provide job opportunities to young people and qualified unemployed youth

Décrivez le problème primaire auquel votre projet répond.

Currently the pass rate mostly public schools in Namibia are far below standard. Drop-out rate is also higher as kids as young as the age of 10 years are dropping out of school and flock to towns to sell cellphone recharge vouchers which have become a popular business ventures among youths. The efficiency of education is higher in private school than in public school. Students in private school has ability for problem solving skills, higher self-esteem and their parents has a better understanding on the importance of education then their peers in public schools. Most public schools don’t offer computer classes and they don’t have computer lab to assist students with their research or use the internet. The program will engage students into group learning sessions and networking by using peer education and Tutorial classes to combat education challenges and encourage students to succeed.

Awareness education to parents and the whole community at large on why and how EduIcan Sharing Knowledge will impact and benefit the kids. The community needs a lots of education on this project because it will be using cellphones, so that they can allow their kids to use their cellphones and visit the project center for tutorial sessions.
Lots of marketing initiatives and fundraising activities.
Good understanding between the project leaders, tutors and parents so that the tutors can have access to their kids schools record to track progress.

Réussite la 2è année:

By this time EduIcan Sharing Knowledge will be established and running, but there will still be awareness education to encourage parents of kids who failed to register from the previous year to register. Surveys to assess how the students are learning from the project and listen to their initiatives. Expand the tutorial center to another region which shows the highest registered students.

Réussite la 3è année:

Expand the tutorial center to a third region to assist registered students there. Doing more fundraising initiatives to generate more funds to keep the project running. Awareness education to register more students and those who failed to register in the past two years.

(oui/no)

There is a strategic plan

Register and legalize the organization. Outcome of regsitration expected by end of June 2009.

2è étape:

Market and educate the community about the goals and objective of the organization.

3è étape:

Design, organize, plan and implement a fundraising plan for the next three years

A registered and legal organization can be trusted by the community and encourage their kids to be part of and this will also helps the organization to secure funds from sponsors.
Clear and specific objectives and goals will give a good understanding of the organization. Good marketing plan will secure and encourage more students to be part of the organization
EduIcan will be a social enterprise and fundraising plans need to be in place to ensure long term sustainability. Fundraising activities will lead to a good cash-flow which will enable the organization to deliver and align to its goals and objectives

I first came across the word social entrepreneurship in its defining form last year in August. I was searching the internet and I came across a website that funds social enterprises. After a good reading and understanding of what is a social entrepreneur I realize that I can still embark on my dream to help my community. This year when I saw the results of grade 10 and grade 12 they were disappointing and everybody is just blaming the government that’s when I realize that we the community are not doing anything to help our kids and that’s how EduIcan was born and initiated.

My name is Linekela Kapundja I am a qualified food technologist and apart from running a social enterprise with a friend, I am employed by a beverage manufacturing company. I am also involved in other small business enterprises.
As a person I'm always looking for new things to learn and focus on and I have a passion of working with children and young adults/ youth. I believe that each and every one of us deserves a chance to succeed and embark on our dreams and this is one of the strong force that encourages me to start a social enterprise. I have made a promise to myself that before the age of thirty my country should talk about Linekela for what she has done and the impact she has made to her fellow citizens. With EduIcan I'm optimistic that the gap where by one need to have money to benefit from good and quality education will become narrower.
