Programs for Social Change (PSC) is a DBA of New Programs for Social Change, Inc. a registered 501c3. It is an Anti-Bullying Initiative delivered via a technique called Video Mirroring. Creation of videos, as a fun documentary making experience, makes youth feel acknowledged—emotions are heard and given a new level of importance. Reason:
This program works to teach empathy and mitigate bullying. It uses traditional film making method as a tool to teach empathy in a unique way. Participants report that they, their families and friends have experienced changed behavior and attitudes toward each other that are palpable. Kids who were bullied about physical characteristics report that being seen, heard and understood on film has made big changes in their lives. This program demonstrates and offers the therapeutic benefit of teaching and experiencing empathy in a unique and innovative way.
