Innovation
What makes your idea unique?
In Argentina, especially in the province of Santiago del Estero, one of the poorest in the country, rural people often do not come to hospitals, either because they do not exist in such inhospitable places where they live, or because they are reluctant to be medically checked.
Temporary rural workers are absent from home for extended periods of time in order to search for family income. Usually move long distances, often traveling as maintaining a very poor communication with his family.
This leads to a certain lack of protection of the family, both from the point of view of containment and revenue assurance and satisfaction of basic needs, causing a feeling of helplessness the family members as anxiety and uncertainty in the Temporary Worker.
Among the main problems of these families is that they live isolated, with few neighbors and major difficulties in moving to urban centers.
Their points of reference area. Rural Schools and Health centers, with its continuing work and unwavering approach and health education to play an invaluable role in social integration.
The health center is thus constitutes the first link for access to health both in prevention and in education and a connection with the rest of the health system.
The action plan of the Foundation is based in community health care through the installation of a system of primary health care in order to fulfill the following activities:
1. Comprehensive care for the family, based on health education
2. Provision of food supplies, medicine, clothing and promotion of proper nutrition
3. Provision of safe water (the water here is deadly because it contains arsenic) and promotion of improved sanitation
4. Fumigation

Impact
This Entry is about (Issues)
What impact have you had?
The Foundation began operations in July 2008.
During those months were treated by primary care:
752 clinical medical check ups
732 blood pressure controls
221 Nutritional controls
153 Healings
427 vaccinations (including H1N1
32 patients were derived to the public health care system: derivation that not only was to send them to hospital, but they got slots for additional studies and underwent follow-up of the treatment by specialists.
During the year, we gave educational lectures to the public on: dengue, water purification, hygiene and food handling, dental care and hygiene (and the importance of starting in childhood.)
During the year 2009, twice as many patients responded and conducted campaigns of ophthalmology, dentistry, pediatrics
There was spraying against Chagas disease and dengue in the four neighboring sites.
.
Since the location of the Health center is in a desolate place without access to the city, many people in very remote places, come to the Post knowing that there is constant attention seven days a week, 24 hours.
Gradually, the rural people will have confidence and respect for the quality treatment and care with which they are served.
A health worker visits families, and calls them for annual attention: thus establishing a link post-chango and primary care is being consolidated.
This has happened in a year and a half working on a post.
The Foundation's goal is to reach 10 health posts.
Problem
The problem: Changos (name given to the rural dwellers) : the lack of cultural training and fear to medical procedures
(They prefer to lose their teeth before having a root canal done)
Culturally, people who have never left the rural areas and have no motivation for anything.
By temperament are peaceful people, to be satisfied easily, without aspirations.
That is why the Foundation seeks to strengthen the educational process and facilitate productive development and job training, working with rural schools by creating a library of educational materials and grants.
Use idle facilities of the school (evening) to install a permanent system of health education, job training for young adults and training for the productive development of the area.
Establish an intensive campaign against school dropout
Encourage, through educational achievement awards and / or employment of the population.
Actions
In La Resbalosa, a place where the Health Center is : there are about 400 people.
In all three places near live more or less the same amount. Eventhough these three sites have a health posts none of them work. (All health posts are under the Ministry of Santiago del Estero, which has no budget for Health Care Workers)
The health worker, travels on a motorcycle, visiting all households to inform them of the campaigns that will have on our Health center, talk with neighbors and create a health care system which them is refered to the the public system health, tracking of the treatment and care is taken for the results to be obtained, making contact with the provincial health system.
Improving the system statistical data collection activity in the Post.
We want to developed an academic activity with university to collaborate for internships, original research relevant of diseases in the area (geographic regional pathology: eg regional hydroarsenicism endemic and publications in academic journals.
Results
1. Consolidation of the primary health care model in the area of La Resbalosa.
2. Interest in campaigning for public health: dengue, Chagas disease, ophthalmology, dentistry, etc.
3. Implement a system of control of drugs, ranging from the needs of the population through monitoring the drug supply (source, laboratory, pharmaceutical form) to the result. (Compliance with the therapeutic effect, side effects, etc.).
4. Integration of community development objectives for the health center
5. Involving people in environmental remediation work (control of garbage, sewage, wastewater, obtaining safe water, etc ...)
6. Involve the population vector control tasks (kissing bugs, mosquitoes, dengue, etc)
7. Implement the improvement of rural housing (similar to the Fundación Mundo Sano)
8. Strengthen the educational process and facilitate productive development and job training
What will it take for your project to be successful over the next three years? Please address each year separately, if possible.
We need money and companies that want to get involved with the project.
In the years 2009-2010 is dedicated to the implementation of primary health care.
In the 2010-2011 period we aim to:
dental work.
Semi-annual campaign for eradication of Chagas' disease.
Annual campaigns of ophthalmology, dermatology, pulmonology.
Conduct a feasibility study for potential drinking water development in the area, (the whole area is contaminated with arsenic) consisting of three basic stages:
-Evaluation of geological and hydrogeological background
-Implementation of a survey to establish the conditions of local aquifer.
-Run a hydrothermal drilling deep to reach groundwater and water pump installation for safe water supply.
In the period 2011-2012
If we manage to get drinking water: implementation of organic gardens.
Construction of a multipurpose room to enhance the educational process and the productive development of job training.
The creation of an educational computer training to not only reduce the knowledge gap between these people and the rest of society, but will be an engine for development, communication, knowledge, job training and access to culture, blazing a path of opportunity and integration of the rural society.
Achieve the formation of a cooperative with local women engaged in garment making looms, training workshops and exchange technical knowledge and traditional craft secrets. Traditional Crafts Fairs and Artisan Meetings.

Please tell us more about how these partnerships are critical to the success of your innovation.
We model the consolidation of primary health care primarily in the area of the slippery and then in nine other places of Santiago del Estero.
The Foundation aims to coordinate efforts and mobilize resources for primary health care and to accompany the development of temporary rural workers and their families. Create opportunities for those who are away from it all and in the midst of poverty.
We seek to bridge the gap between urban and rural reality, health and education to those who have none and make visible what nobody sees.
That's why we publish a bimonthly newsletter reporting achievements and those who have supported us.
Our project is to mobilize those who share the concern to achieve a country that provides equal opportunities for all its inhabitants. We want everyone to share efforts, ideas, projects and achievements: events that happen away from the big cities.
Bringing resources for improvement of infrastructure and access to and in new technologies.
Our goal is to achieve genuine development, education based on a bride not only knowledge but also forms people committed to their communities.
What are the three most important actions needed to grow your initiative or organization?
Work to achieve our objectives.
Show the work and achievements of our work
Share waht hás been done to the government and private organizations to share our project and meet our needs.
In this way we arrive to implement the ten post-project.
The Story
What was the defining moment that led you to this innovation?
Traveling through Santiago del Estero (one of the poorest provinces in the country due to the lousy governments they have had), whose educational level is below normal for lack of personal initiative (poor alimientación) and the national government.
Seeing the poverty in which such persons who are hired by various companies as temporary rural workers, because they have good humor, get along with each other and not cause any disturbances.
Knowing such a dry, needed and poor place , people without any incentive, since living in the middle of nowhere do not aspire to anything.
If one has the potential and motivation for others is impossible not to want to do something for them.
Many travel to Africa or to India, I decided to do something in my country.
Tell us about the social innovator behind this idea.
My father, Rodolfo Jorge Lanusse.
Belonged to a landowning family in the late nineteenth century.
Always taught us that the people working in the fields were worthy of all because thanks to them we had what we had.
He taught us to work with and like them.
He knew the names of all employees and the circumstances in which they lived, their families, etc..
And gave to a number of them college opportunities.
