Improving maternal care
This is to connect pregnant mothers to gynecologists through mobile networking for pre-natal medical check ups. A lot of women in the rural areas have no means to take them to see a doctor for medical check up. This brings up skipping of pre-natal check ups and the child/mother lives are endangered. Most of these women live in rural areas have mobile phones and can easily be conneceted with doctor

Not yet as the idea is new and has not been put in practice yet.
Problem
A lot of women in the rural areas lack education, information and communication about the important of maternal health. They fail to go for medical check ups when they are expecting and they risk their lives and of babies to be born. Due to lack of information and poor living conditions, they look for shortcuts where they use traditional midwives who deliver their babies and the lives of both mother and child is put at risk in case of any complication. The conditions where they also give birth is unhygienic and may bring infections to either the baby and mother which may result to future medical complications.
Actions
VICDA has come up with an idea of networking with communication companies to reach out expectant women where they are connected with gynecologists. This project will reduce the risks of delivery complications and putting mothers/child life out of risks..
Results
To reach almost 10,000 women per year.
Saving the lives of both mother and child.
Reducing maternal complicated issues for mother/child.
What will it take for your project to be successful over the next three years? Please address each year separately, if possible.
1st year - there will be implementation and training of women on importance of this project.
2nd year - we will have a group of expectant women whom we will work with and check our results based on the ratio of expectant women and those who who have applied our services and see the impact made.
3rd year - We will apply the project to the community in different parts of Kenya and keep on educating more women and later we will create awareness through the media as it will reach 70% of the Kenya population.
What would prevent your project from being a success?
VICDA will continue creating more awareness to the Kenyan people.

The Story
What was the defining moment that led you to this innovation?
I have been working with unprivileged community in our country and i discovered that women and children have many issues which need to be addressed and maternal health being one of them as the rate of women who do not have access to pre-natal clinic is high and traditional midwifery is still going on which has come up as a result of poverty.
Tell us about the social innovator behind this idea.
Women and children health will be improved and this will avoid future medical complications for both mother/child.
