Our program is revolutionary, combining an orphan sponsorship program with a voluntourism opportunity to engage donors with the children we serve on an unprecedented level. The program creates Ambassadors who experience first hand the real life challenges facing the orphans of India. Through the Ambassador's experience, their lives are transformed as well as the children's. This Program has already proven to create a powerful network of travelers whose support of the orphans of India has multiplied the efforts of the foundation through awareness and donations.

Tell us your idea. What makes your idea innovative?
The Miracle Foundation is a non-profit that empowers children to reach their full potential, one orphan child at a time. We build own and operate several orphanages in India and offer donors a one-to-one sponsorship opportunity to support one of the children living in our homes under our care. We provide a volunteer opportunity within the organization which encourages sponsors and travelers to visit our orphans and their sponsored child whenever they want, for as long as they want. This is unique because travelers are:
• Living within our orphanage and getting to know the inner workings of the home and the children of The Miracle Foundation.
• Nurturing a connection with and becoming part of our family while feeding, educating, and playing with our kids.
• Traveling with our founder, staff and like-minded people.
• Experiencing a flexible volunteer opportunity! Travel anytime – with or without a group. The travel is completely escorted by our own staff.
What is the likely impact of your idea?
People go to our orphanages as travelers and come back as Ambassadors for the children we raise. It is impossible to come back from one of our Homes and not be more compassionate, more grateful, and have a different perspective on life. We have impacted the lives of over 100 Ambassadors and each has shared their experience with countless friends and family members. Of these 100 Ambassadors, at least 1/2 now sponsor a child - some even 2 children! This allows us to add more children under our care and breaking the cycle of poverty in their communities.
What would it take to launch or spread your idea?
Exposure to the Life-Enhancers through Conde Naste is a great start! Through this exposure, we can encourage more people to travel with us to volunteer directly with the orphans of India. Their experience, in turn, will inspire others to engage in generous giving to improve the lives of our children. We would love to have a social/community website dedicated to our Ambassadors which gives them the platform to tell their own story of their travels to The Miracle Foundation Orphanages. Their stories are inspiring and will help breed a world of like-minded travelers.

Describe yourself as a social innovator.
As Ambassadors personally go to India and meet the children that they, and others, sponsor, the children and issues facing them become more real to an ever-widening audience of potential supporters. Their faces and stories become real, not just something on a donation brochure. This breeds transparency and eliminates barriers between donors and recipients by creating relationships where both sides learn and benefit from each other, and cultures can truly connect. It is common for our Ambassadors to go back home and raise thousands of dollars for the children we serve. Our Ambassadors will be back to serve the planet in ever-more creative ways as our Ambassador Program grows.
