girls, young women and sport
I think it is really excellent how you are addressing such difficult issues like youth in militant groups, violence and HIV/Aids through sport. Congratulations! I was wondering if your program also targets girls and young women? Are they also involved in the sport activities and how are you addressing the specific needs and problems. I am part of Women Win, a new foundation that gives financial support to groups working to promote women and girls’ empowerment through sport. We have seen that sport is a very strong and successful tool, particularly with our partner organizations in Africa. Have you seen this too in Nigeria?
Thanks in advance for your reply,

Sportodrama Community Ambassadors Football (SCAF) program
Dear Astrid Aafjes,
Thanks for the letter you sent to us appreciating what we are doing in area of sports for development and to create peace in volatile areas of the Niger Delta of Nigeria and other parts of the country especially our Sportodrama Community Ambassador Football (SCAF) Programme, aims at raising new role models, strengthening peace and reducing HIV/AIDS in the general population.
On whether we are integrating our programmes with girls and young women, I will say we have not started, but it is part of our action plan for this year if we are able to source for funding, which will primarily target commercial sex workers and ladies who are involved in militant activities in the Niger Delta areas of Nigeria.
In view of this, we would be interested in establishing a working relationship with your organization, and therefore soliciting for your support and assistance for this project, which we intend to start by June if funded.
We are asking if we are to send a proposal to your organization for assistance and support for this laudable project.
Thanks for your anticipated reply.
Yours truly,

Hi Rahman,
Congratulations on wanting to reach out to women and girls through sport. I think it is very interesting and important to support both sex workers and female militants. Please look at our website and check out our grant requirements at
