The winners of the Champions of Quality Education in Africa competition are:
Teaching in Action (TIA), an initiative of AfricAid that gives Tanzanian teachers tools to use student-centered teaching methods.
“It was very rewarding to participate in a competition in which collaboration and the exchange of ideas was encouraged,” said Ashley Shuyler, founder of AfricaAid. “The competition site has served as an excellent resource for some of the most innovative ideas being implemented across the African continent -- it is in many ways a one-stop-shopping site for those who wish to learn about the best practices in the field of education in Africa.”
Educate! (Educating and Empowering Africa's Future Leaders), a high school curriculum in Uganda that teaches social entrepreneurship.
“Changemakers competition was a great way to rally our supporters. Their voting helped us to win so they will now be even more motivated to stay more involved,” said Eric Glustrrom of Educate! “Having them see the other finalists also helped to increase their awareness of the innovations happening in the field of education in Africa.”
Empowering & Connecting Teachers to Information and Each Other, a Nigerian initiative of Teachers Without Borders that advances teachers’ professional development through widespread outreach online, on the radio, and on the road in a nationwide “Teaching Tour.”
“The opportunity to collaborate and network with others is key. All other entrants too are Champions and we now have the new consciousness to go out there and create more Champions of Quality Education in Africa,” said Raphael Oko of Teachers Without Borders.
Congratulations!
The collaboration is continuing in the Champions of Quality Education in Africa Group.
