The organization FoST provides different efficient cooking stoves and different solar cookers for boiling water, cooking rice, potatoes, lentils, beans etc.. Many organizations / NGO's offer solar cookers or efficient wood stoves. Solar cookers are a great solution but unfortunately solar cookers do not provide heating in the homes of poor communities during the winter, at night or in mountain areas.
Although most of the NGO wood stoves are designed to use less fuel, poor households still need to cut down trees every day for fuel – a huge destructive impact on the environment. The cutting of trees or even the illegal logging to produce wood for cooking is one of the main causes for deforestation. Deforestation is the main cause for erosion, landslides, desertification, decrease of water levels and climate change.
The biggest and most important difference between FoST and other organization is that FoST also teaches the community to make their own fuel from locally available household waste such as paper, carton, agricultural residues or crop leftovers, such as rice and wheat, straw, sugarcane bagasse, banana stalk fiber, grass clippings, dried leaves, corn, bamboo, pine leaves, ash, saw dust, algae...
Fuel briquettes have a huge advantage. They’re more compact than wood so give more energy and more heat, they create less smoke so therefore not polluting the houses and causing serious air-borne diseases to eyes and lungs and people save time and cost. Also it is so much safer for women because they do not need to walk for hours to fetch wood as the materials to make their own fuel briquettes are found locally.
I am familiar with this system for making fuel briquettes from waste materials and it is brilliant. We work with poor families in Mexico. They spend far too much time gathering fire wood for cooking, or they spend a high percentage of their limited income buying canisters of propane gas.
There are plenty of waste materials readily available in the areas where we work. We are going to help some of those families set up fuel briquette mini-manufacturing plants. They will be able to produce their own fuel for cooking, and derive income by selling briquettes to their neighbors.
Sanu's concept is brilliant. It is also highly scalable.
This model is incredibly scalable, sustainable, and accessible to communities all over the world. The equipment required to compress waste material into briquettes can be built from local materials with local technologies just about anywhere.
This solution not only helps provide fuel, it also helps clean up waste materials, reduce deforestation, reduce respiratory problems caused by smoke inhalation from wood fires in small homes, and empowers women with a sustainable, low-cost business model.
The establishment plans of FoST has itself made this NGO, a non-profitable organization which depends on it body members to boost up the use of sustainable technologies. Although, the briquette technique is not a renowned one in the recycling world but, FoST has made it look remarkably astonishing for its comsumption by the families in the rural areas of the world. Briquette fuels are financial affordable for the developing regions and amazingly produces a village level energy. Likewise, this is one of the most prominent fuels which is fully eco-friendly and can suprisingly preserve the wasted fossil materials. This isn't the only time that FoST has been notified for its excellence in the field of reworking the wasted fossil fuels. Throughout years and years of hardwork, the progression of FoST has been growing in a large scale. There are dozens of advancement made by FoST along with the briquette which concerns the solar power.
As follows, being a supporter of this organization, I would like to thank FoST for its exceptional job in such a short period of time and praise its aim of the future.
Foundation for Sustainable Technology (FoST) is the meaningfull NGO that means 'Save Energy, Save Money & Save Environment'. FoST research for Briquette which is easily available in rural & urban area like Paper, sawdust. garden waste, kitchen waste & any kind of plant. Briqutte making is a simple method when family member with free time they can make easily. First time they use their own fuel, when they make lots of amount then they can sale for friends, relatives & market to make money.Briqutte can be used for any kind stove, but FoST introduced Gassifier stove which omits less smoke, it helps reduce Asthma, eye diseases & all of the health concerns which can derive from a harmful burning of timber or fossil fuel. Briquttes can also reclycle & reuse of waste material, that helps home clean, village and city. In undeveloped villages or regions, people go to bring wood for fuel from 4-5 hours walking distance that creates deforestation after the cutting the tree for burning woods and mass forest destruction. Additionally, briquette making means time consuming and fully sustainable for the environment.
The advancements of Fost can really help in declining the Global Warming to save our Environment & Energy. And all these concepts are very essential for the betterment and progress in the life style of the rural civilians.

Fantastic idea. Nice work FoST.
