Elun is a new start-up dedicated to providing teacher training for free in the developing world.

We launch June 27, 2012!

Our special focus is on feedback from the community, parents, AND students before we begin training teachers. We also establish close relationships with communities after we leave so we can return and continue to monitor progress.

When we arrive on site, we evaluate the teachers strengths and weaknesses to determine which "tier" of training is appropriate. We focus on a hybrid of traditional educational methods (unit plans, classroom managements) and fostering entrepreneurial skill sets (creativity in the classroom, teacher-as-facilitator).

We ran a pilot in Pakistan and are planning for Rwanda this summer. Elun's trainings are open so anyone in the community, not just the teacher, can participate. At Elun we do not believe classrooms are the only place for learning, but we do believe that teachers are the most important variable for children's success. We believe in fostering skills in teachers so they can, in return, empower students to change their lives and communities.
