I found your entry very interesting- especially the way you work to involve parents in the awareness raising process. I was wondering if you could expand in a few areas to help clarify a few parts of your entry. In one section you mention that children themselves are used to help identify victims of trafficking-- can you explain a bit more exactly how this is done without putting children in danger? Also- you mentioned that part of your project is a "settlement project designed for each child." This sounds interesting but I'm not sure if I know exactly what you mean. Can you explain a bit further?
Thanks!

Question
In one section you mention that children themselves are used to help identify victims of
trafficking-- can you explain a bit more exactly how this is done without putting
children in danger?
Answer
Children victims of trafficking are identified in risky zones. They know these zones as they lived there. They also know other victims of trafficking and their behaviours. They are then able to recognise victims or signal their location.
During the training the children are getting awareness skills. They sensitise other children in risky zones during awareness campaigns. That means when there are together with the trainers of ASSEJA.They also help to identify other victims of trafficking by informing on their presence in the locality. ASSEJA’s trainers then make the withdrawal of victims possible with the assistance of forces of law when needed.
When giving their testimony during awareness campaigns, children act under the control of ASSEJA’s trainers.
They are informing on the presence or the location of other victims anonymously. So, they are protected as nobody knows our source of information.
Question
Also- you mentioned that part of your project is
a "settlement project designed for each child."
This sounds interesting but I'm not sure if I know exactly what you mean.
Can you explain a bit further?
Answer
In fact, the settlement project is a business plan for children. This business plan is designed for each child taking in account his origin, his story, his living environment and his trade.
When putting this business plan in application, ASSEJA’s trainers make a global follow up that evaluates the whole environment of the child and facilitates changes in his life.

“We are drawn to the idea of training children in the community as advisors that help identify victims of slavery. This initiative has the potential to break the silence in Africa. The need is clear and the impact could be immense. We are interested in learning more about the specifics regarding the implementation of the approach and plans for growth and development.”
