Bill,
.
I invited you to apply because I knew you would take on promoting Inclusive Geotourism with such a gung-ho attitude that everyone who reads this would be won over. Impressive!
.
I think it is especially noteworthy that while your focus is to provide travel opportunities for our community from around the world you have already seen a green orientation taking place among those who live in Campeche and are in contact wit Freedom Shores. That's further confirmation of our claim that Universal Design and green values go hand-in-hand. Funny how “inclusion” works in many directions – environment, the economic and social needs of those in the Campeche community. I’ve always held that “inter-dependence” (not an over- hyped “independence”) is at the core of disability culture.
.
We are working so that a few advisors would come your way. Loren Worthington (AccessinArizona) and I are working on dividing up research travel for stories on Mexico’s Turismo para Todos pioneers. I think Craig Grimes (Accessible Nicaragua / Accessible Barcelona ) wants to come up. Judith Cardenas at (CancunAcessible) is only six hours away by car. Adriana Ramirez (AccesibleMexico may not be able to travel but has good experience to share. Roseanne Ramos (Inclusion by Design) and I are working in Costa Rica and building up the regional market. Jim Coffey who we met here through Changemakers seems to be inland from you a bit at Rio Jalcomulco. Have you checked to see if he can bring a sea kayaking project to Freedom Shores - maybe something like we do with Day on the Beach in Santa Cruz, California? Does Campeche have an airport suitable for Ken Wilson's ? If so, we could talk about organizing a Day in the Sky perhaps we fly-ins operating between Campeche and Cancun coordinated by you and Judith.
