Thanks for your interesting entry.

You alluded, in a range of different places, to the different kinds of aid your tool promises to provide, the different populations of beneficiaries it promises to help, and what changes it has proven to produce. Yet, I think readers' (and judges') ability to comprehend your tool's potential for producing change would be improved by more systematic presentation. Might you offer a systematic presentation to us now?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best,
Diane

Dear Diane,

While the EYEPORT is a relatively simple-looking device, it simultaneously works at multiple levels. First, it reminds us that we are designed to function effortlessly which is at the heart of our ability to self-heal.

For centuries Chinese sages have observed that life continually brings itself into balance through a process of alternately expanding and contracting. This primal rhythm referred to as Yin and Yang defines life’s self-healing principle and is evident in every aspect of nature. In the body, this process is evident in every physiological function from our breath and heartbeat to our cranial-sacral rhythm and vision.

When this rhythmic process is flowing freely, we are in a state of physiological coherence, responding to life automatically with presence, clarity and gracefulness. Any effort or tension however, disrupts this fundamental “flow” causing a restriction in the breath, a tightness of the muscles, and a collapse in the visual field, ultimately degrading performance. To experience our maximum potential we must re-establish this underlying state of “flow.”

The EYEPORT accomplishes this through its patented use of alternating red and blue LED’s. These colors have opposing effects on both the Autonomic Nervous System and the Visual System. By viewing these colors the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the Autonomic Nervous System are alternately innervated, restoring the wave-like motion inherent in the body’s primal rhythm. The same mechanism simultaneously creates a rocking action in the Visual System, mimicking the natural over- and under- focusing of the eyes as they search for visual balance. Thus, alternately viewing red and blue LED’s entrains the user into a state of flow, or what athletes call “the zone.”

Second, the EYEPORT comes with a pair of reversible glasses with one red and one blue filter. By wearing these glasses during the exercises, the relationship between the dominant and non-dominant eye continually changes, balancing the function of the eyes without the users awareness. One moment the dominant eye is leading and the non-dominant eye supporting, while in the next moment the opposite is true. It's like teaching someone to be ambidextrous. Through this dynamic process new neuronal connections are forged and a deep level of balance is established in both the eyes and the brain.

Third, while the user is in this receptive state, their eyes are being trained to aim, track, focus and work together as a team, quickly, accurately and efficiently.

You know someone is paying attention, because they’re looking at you. And to look at you, they need to aim their eyes. If they can’t do that easily, they can’t pay attention, and if they can’t pay attention, learning becomes difficult. This is a very common problem in children and adults with ADD/ADHD.

As the eyes aim they also focus, making things clear and understandable. That’s why “I see” means I understand. Your eyes are designed to work together and continually move. This provides you a three-dimensional view of reality and the ability to respond to life in real time.

Since 90 % of learning occurs by way of the eyes, the ability of your eyes to aim, track, focus and team is reflected in everything you do. Use of the EYEPORT helps integrate a level of ease, flow & skill that supports a whole new level of performance. I hope this answers your questions.

The EYEPORT is very intriguing! It sounds like a powerful tool that can have a significant impact on users' lives.

You mentioned that you had a learning disability as a youth. Can you tell us more about the EYEPORT's potential to improve vision-related learning disabilities?

Great work,

Dear Sally,

Thank you for your post. The EYEPORT is a vision training tool that improves the ability of the eyes to aim, track, focus and work together as a team. These skills are fudamental to learning and inseparably connected to one's consciousness. The eyes are direct extensions of the brain, responsible for approximately 90 % of the information we take in during our lifetime. Thus, the ability of the eyes to pick up information quickly, accurately and efficiently, and respond to it appropriately, is directly reflected in our ability to attend, read and learn. I spent many years working with children who had difficulty learning, and found vision training to be a very powerful tool. I hope this is helpful.
