This is one of those examples of thinking about the small details that actually matter in day to day life. Many people would assume this kind of care just has to be done a certain way and accept it, embarrassed or not. You went a step further and created a concept to address this aspect of care that gets glossed over but presents a personal dilemma for many. I really like this idea because of the practical, human element. Great stuff!
Andre,
Thanks so much for your comment! It is true what you said about the little things that can mean so much, but somehow don’t get considered in the big picture. From my own experiences in such a dilemma, I felt scared and vulnerable. Since I was only eight at the time it was harder for me to express those troubling emotions within me. I believe embarrassment or humiliation should not be a rite of passage in personal care.
I am grateful for the way you expressed it so beautifully. I believe if we all think outside the box of “We’ve always done it this way” we can help usher in a quality of life change, even if it’s just a little thing.
