After speaking with some employers and employees who are using VidaCard, I am thoroughly convinced of the positive effect that simple healthcare benefits can have on mental health of a workforce and community. A few themes demonstrated through quotes from people who I talked to:
HEALTHIER (mentally & physically) FAMILIES “Life is very different because I can take my two girls, Naille and Kimberly (10 & 7 yrs old), to the dentist and to the doctor for annual checkups – all because of VidaCard.” – Cesi, cashier clerk at Farmacia Remedios (a pharmacy catering to the Latino community)
PRIDE: “Do not underestimate the psyche of that card. For many, it’s the first plastic with their name. It means a lot.” – Mauricio, CEO of Farmacia Remedios
CHANGING BEHAVIOR: “Now they [employees] have money earmarked for health. They don’t have disposable income and wouldn’t otherwise go to the doctor or dentist. We’re creating a healthier population.” -- Mauricio, CEO of Farmacia Remedios
