An elected group of children from the world's oldest school based on children's rights, community participation and emotional learning, A.S.Neill's Summerhill School. The children visit schools, Universities, conferences and events running workshops, Q and A sessions and presentations on their school, one of the most influential schools in the world in terms of children playing, living, learning, being creative and expressing their emotions.
Reason:
Summerhill allows children to have access to an example, and part of the history of childhood, that questions many of the assumed values adults inject into projects on children's rights, and the role of children in their communities, including schools. It helps to empower children to question the hidden values to paternalism and that adults know best for children. Though it is historically important to adults it is still an invisible example of children's rights to children.
