Canimiz Kampuste aims to use a variety of tools to help young women and men to engage in dialogue about, and combat, street harassment. The program uses workshops, lectures, campus safety resources, and self-defense trainings to promote campus safety across Istanbul's many universities. Additionally, Canimiz Kampuste's provision of several innovative online resources, such as student/university-specific pages, online story-telling, and digital awareness campaigns all help the program reach more youths.
Reason:
I would like to nominate Canimiz Kampuste because it is an exciting social and technological innovation aimed at improving the safety and well-being of young women in Istanbul, a vulnerable demographic. The integration of modern technology in their mission to combat street harassment is an excellent way to reach the population. The project has proved so inspirational that several universities have approached Canimiz Kampuste to start their own programs. With more resources the program could reach even more of Istanbul's youths.
