Sustainable Tourism in the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve of Querétaro, Mexico
The Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve of Querétaro is one of Mexico's priority conservation areas for its rich biodiversity, high level of conservation and hydrological importance. Its natural resources are in the hands of poor rural landowners living in 600 communities, who face serious challenges and demand development and employment opportunities. The solution requires the union of society and institutions and the use of innovative mechanisms to reduce rural poverty, which will halt deforestation, preserve the diversity of ecosystems and species, and allow for the rehabilitation of degraded areas and the sustainable management of natural resources.

The Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve of Querétaro is one of Mexico's priority conservation areas for its rich biodiversity, high level of conservation and hydrological importance. Its natural resources are in the hands of poor rural landowners living in 600 communities, who face serious challenges and demand development and employment opportunities.
