Describe your idea in fewer than 50 words.

It is about bridging the gap between the rural and the urban education in Uganda in a bid to drive to quality education. We go to the rural areas and bring career guidance and teach life skills.

What makes your idea unique?

Many of the focus in Uganda is geared towards quantity education and education is a privilege to the rural areas. It is this that my idea seeks to redress, the growing gap between rural and urban education to achieve quality and equal education.

We have visited the rural schools and had an impact on the children especially in secondary school. They embraced the ideas we presented and so far we have a group of 30 children in the programme. Many are seeing the new drive for quality education in the rural area where we work.

Describe the primary problem(s) that your project is addressing.

My project is addressing the gap between the rural and urban education system. We go to the rural schools and give them career guidance and also offer them lessons in life skills such as reading novels and computer skills.

Describe the steps that your organization is taking to make your project successful.

We have gone down to the rural areas and interacted with the children and given them life changing lessons. Articles have been written in the news papers advocating for quality education. Research has been undertaken to find out how the system can be brought up to quality.

What will it take for your project to be successful over the next three years? Success in Year 1:

financial aid to have more trips to the rural areas as well as acquire more novels and computer facilities to the rural schools. A good network with the ministry of education and sports in Uganda is very essential.

Success in Year 2:

we need to expand to other operating fields. A good networking system here is essential. We need to coordinate with the head teachers in these rural schools so that we can reach as many as possible. Coordination with the civil society is vital too.

Success in Year 3:

creating sustainability in the rural areas, so that those we teach these basic skills can pass them onto their juniors. This would take dedication over time and with time we shall have created a class of people in the rural areas that can advance the objectives of quality education.
