Environment, Energy and Climate Change Online Group
Welcome to the ‘Environment, Energy and Climate Change” thematic group proposed by Ashoka Changemakers and jointly designed with IDB/MIF and its Sustainable Tourism Cluster (STC).
This online space constitutes a new opportunity for those participants coming from the Latin America and Caribbean region who have applied to the IDB/MIF opportunity within the framework of the 2009 Geotourism Challenge “People, Culture and Territory” developed by Changemakers in partnership with National Geographic.
The online group on “Environment, Energy and Climate Change” aims at identifying innovative solutions to involve MSMEs in the conservation and sustainable use of the natural resources and attractions that their businesses depend on.
Since the month of January 2010, we begin of the second stage of the online discussion groups, aiming to identify solutions, strategic support and investment opportunities for the Sustainable Tourism sector in each of the five topics.
The objective is to present the most significant issues to a group of important companies that are interested in working with the MIF to support the development of the sustainable tourism sector in the region, as well as in initiating contact with the active group participants.
At the same time, MIF will assess and follow up on the issues and needs identified during the group discussions, which will also be taken into account for the design of future calls for proposals open to all group participants.
In addition we will have the contribution of technical specialists from IDB/MIF and the participation of “special guests” who will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
During this week, the proposed discussion subject will evolve around the topic "Environmental Protection"
