Access to Finance Online Group

Welcome to the ‘Access to Finance” thematic group proposed by Ashoka Changemakers and jointly designed with IDB/MIF and its Sustainable Tourism Cluster (STC).

This online space constitutes a new opportunity for those participants coming from the Latin America and Caribbean region who have applied to the IDB/MIF opportunity within the framework of the 2009 Geotourism Challenge “People, Culture and Territory” developed by Changemakers in partnership with National Geographic. 

This online thematic group is aimed at extending and improving financing options offered to small and medium sized companies (MSMEs) willing to improve the quality and competitiveness of the tourist products and services offered, by means of the implementation of best practices in sustainable tourism and certification standards in its operations.  

This month marks the beginning of the second stage of the online discussion groups, aiming to identify solutions, strategic support and investment opportunities for the Sustainable Tourism sector. 

The objective is to present the most significant issues to a group of important companies that are interested in working with the MIF to support the development of the sustainable tourism sector in the region, as well as in initiating contact with the active group participants.

At the same time, MIF will assess and follow up on the issues and needs identified during the group discussions, which will also be taken into account for the design of future calls for proposals open to all group participants.

During this week, the proposed discussion subject will evolve around the topic "Coordinating Sustainable Tourism Projects"
