When carrying out a project, there exist barriers regardless the sector you are involved in. The same happens in the sustainable tourism sector. That is why we ask ourselves:
What are the first challenges faced by a MSME that enters into sustainable tourism?
Some possible barriers are:
• Lack of trained local human resources.
• Need for additional funds
• Lack of trust from communities
• Lack of support from local government when there is a requirement for supplementing works.
• Poor visibility or indifferent attitude towards community-based tourism
